The National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) with its headquarters at Dona Paula, Goa, and regional centers at Kochi, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam, is one of the 38 constituent laboratories of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. NIO was established on 1 January 1966 following the International Indian Ocean Expedition (IIOE) in early 1960s. The institute has grown today into a large oceanographic laboratory of international repute. The focus of research has been on observing and understanding the special oceanographic features that the North Indian basin offers. The inferences from this research have been reported in about 5000 research articles so far.
Job Description :
1) Project Associate-I

Consolidated Stipend per month: Rs. 25000/-
Qualification: Ph.D in Chemistry.
Desirable : Experience in the processing of OCM2 remote sensing data and chemical analysis of sinking particles
Max Age: 35 Years
No. of Vacancies : 1
To analyze the sediment trap samples from the equatorial Indian Ocean.
To analyze the OCM2 chlorophyll data.
To understand the linkage between euphotic zone processes and sinking particles to the seabed.
To participate in the cruises for the collection of water samples and sediment samples.
To prepare manuscripts for publication in SCI journals.
2) Project Associate-II
Date and time of interview: 12/07/2013 @ 10:00 AM
Consolidated Stipend per month: Rs. 16000/-
Qualification: M.Sc. Physical Oceanography.
Desirable : Knowledge in the processing of time series oceanographic data. Working knowledge in graphical softwares
Max Age: 28 Years

To assist the Project Leader in data collection onboard research vessels and boats.
To process the time series ADCP, current meter and CTD data.
To do remote sensing data analysis and handling large data sites for climate studies.
3) Project Associate-II

Consolidated Stipend per month: Rs. 16000/-
Qualification: B.E / B Tech in Electronics & Telecommunications / Computer Sciences
Desirable : Working knowledge in MATLAB, LINUX and other graphical softwares

To assist Project Leader in field data collection onboard research vessels and boats.
To maintain various oceanographic sensors.
To maintain the project website, data management and quality control
4) Project Associate-II

Qualification: Three year Diploma in Electrical / Electronics engineering
Desirable : Working knowledge in maintaining scientific equipments
